Anna Palucci Young, L.Ac, is a licensed acupuncturist practicing in Mount Vernon, Washington. She has been practicing acupuncture and Eastern medicine since 2007. It has been and continues to be a vocation which she deeply loves and enjoys.
Anna specializes in treating disease and illness which has its roots in chronic stress and trauma. Many people who seek treatment for chronic, difficult to resolve, health problems often have a history of chronic, toxic, stress or are living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Their many, sometimes varied, and difficult to diagnose, symptoms are often rooted in a nervous system which has become "dysregulated" and effective treatment must take this into consideration.
In her practice, Anna uses a combination of time tested, clinically effective, Eastern medicine diagnostic systems. When these systems are further informed by modern neuroscience including polyvagal theory and the Somatic Experiencing model of trauma, a powerful, holistic form of treatment is the result.
Her first goal with anyone who seeks treatment, is to create a safe, therapeutic environment using various Eastern medicine modalities (acupressure/light touch, herbal medicine and many more) which are incrementally effective and which neither over or underwhelms.
Babette Rothschild, author of The Body Remembers, uses this great analogy:
“The experience of emotional [and physical] overwhelm is similar to that of a shaken bottle of soda. Inside the bottle is a tremendous amount of pressure. The safest way to release the pressure is to open and close the cap in a slow, cautious and intentional manner so as to prevent an explosion.”
Unresolved trauma experiences are stored in the body and because of this, talk therapy alone may not completely resolve the many health problems trauma survivors face, including mood disorders such as depression or anxiety, chronic pain such as migraine headaches, digestive problems such as IBS or troubling autoimmune disorders.
If you are already working with a psychotherapist, Eastern medicine can help to support and accelerate your progress in therapy by encouraging a stronger mind/body connection. Eastern medicine modalities can be helpful whether or not you are taking medications for anxiety, depression, pain or other distressing symptoms.
Anna is strongly committed to helping people to safely and effectively resolve health problems and she sincerely believes that we all deserve to live healthy, joyful, pain free lives.
